Oh Toby Hawkins, have I got some good news for you. The horny teen boy at the center of the drama Humans will have more chances to get his jollies off with super-sexy robot maid Anita, because AMC and Channel 4 have renewed the series for a second season.
The transatlantic co-production about whether or not it’s okay to have sex with a robot (and other technological quandaries) has an order for eight more episodes–matching the episode count of Season 1–and a tentative premiere date of 2016. The series is currently on Episode 5 here in the United States, and on Episode 7 in the U.K.
In Humans, lifelike androids called synths make day-to-day chores easier by cooking, cleaning, and performing any other slave-like jobs, but are also used as sex toys, destroy marriages, and serve as surrogate back-up drives for older people losing their memory. Oh, and some of them may be sentient with the ability to feel real emotion, blurring the line between what it means to be alive and what it means to be programmed to be alive.
Humans, based on a Swedish series called Real Humans, was a hit in the U.K., where it was Channel 4’s highest rated drama premiere in 20 years. Things have been more modest in America, where it’s averaged 2 million viewers when Live+3 data is included.
How do you feel about Humans so far?
