Nothing will get Whoopi Goldberg to stop defending Bill Cosby. Not even the newly unsealed deposition in which the comedian admitted to obtaining drugs to give to women he wanted to have sex with.

On Wednesday’s The View, Goldberg – who previously defended Roman Polanski – doubled down on her stance and lashed out at everyone who criticized her decision to defend Cosby.

“Here’s the deal: This is The View and that was my opinion,” Goldberg said. “Not any of you threatening me or telling me you’re coming after me because you don’t like what I said is going to change the fact that no one has convicted him, he has not been arrested, and the bottom line is that’s the law — innocent, until proven guilty.”

Goldberg went on to compare the dozens of women who have accused Cosby of rape – of which, many of the alleged assaults cannot be prosecuted due to the statute of limitations having run out – to the false rape allegations in the UVA case and the 2006 Duke lacrosse case.

Bill Cosby admitted in 2005 that he drugged a woman

“We all have a very important role to play when it comes to abuse and rape,” Goldberg said. “We all have to demand that if it’s true, the person has to be taken to nth degree of the world and punished. No one here thinks rape is good, no one here thinks rapists are fun. … So don’t come after me like that because I’m sick of this bull.

“Here’s the bottom line for me: It’s my opinion,” Goldberg continued, her voice rising to a yell. “And the American courts agree with me because still, he has not been taken to jail or tried on anything. So back off me!”
