After spending a week in a red non-contact jersey, wide receiver Zay Jones was happy to be back as a full-participant in practice on Monday, saying his focus never wavered from the sideline.
“I was still competing at a high level with the red jersey,” he said after practice on Monday. “It’s good just to look the same as my teammates. But, other than that, my intensity has been the same.”
The receiver saw action with the first team and made a few eye popping catches during 7-on-7 drills.

“I’m enjoying it. It’s great to be back out here amongst a great team,” Jones said. “This team is going to go far. We have a great vision ahead and just have to keep working day-to-day.”
“It’s one thing sitting in a class room and listening to it and being able to answer questions,” offensive coordinator Brian Daboll said of Jones’ development, continuing, ‘it’s another when you go out and there is a defender in front of you.”
And, speaking of defenders safety Micah Hyde and Jones mixed it up at one point on the field, marking the second straight day tempers have flared in practice. Jones had a simple explanation for the scuffle.
“Football,” he said with a smile on his face.
“Today was just one of those days in camp. It’s Monday, right?,” Hyde joked with reporters after practice. “It’s Monday, the sun isn’t out. It was just one of those days.”
As it relates to playing Friday night against the Browns, Jones said he’ll leave that decision up to the training and coaching staff.
