Rex Ryan he spoke for all Bills fans when he said, “I hope Sammy can play some (Sunday).”

Rex also acknowledged that may not be realistic. “We obviously wont put him out there if he is in no condition to play.”

This week against the Jaguars is the first game Watkins can play under the NFL’s Injured Reserve-Designate to Return rule.

Ryan did not provide any plan or schedule for when he would return to practice.

“Our medical staff is continuing to monitor all of Sammy’s deal and I guess we will see how he progresses through the week, but I know our medical staff is on top of everything,” Ryan said.

Watkins has been out since week 2 against the Jets.

Ryan also confirmed Monday that LeSean McCoy had surgery on his dislocated left thumb when the Bills got back to Buffalo Sunday night.

There’s optimism McCoy can play Sunday, but Ryan says the Bills will see how he progresses during the week.

The news is not good if you’re a Bills player named Robert.

Wideout Woods has a sprained kneed and safety Blanton has a foot injury. Ryan termed both as “doubtful” to play Monday and later said on WGR radio in Buffalo, he’d be “shocked” if either played against the Jags.

Jacksonville will come to Buffalo with a 2-8 record, but Rex doesn’t believe it.

“That’s the best two win team I’ve ever seen, and that’s the truth,” Ryan said. “to think we’re going to overlook them, there’s no chance.”

Rex admitted the loss to Jacksonville in London last season still stings. He was still complaining about the late pass interference call on Nickell Robey-Coleman that led to the Jags’ game winning touchdown.

Ryan also said Monday there’s a chance Seantrel Henderson and Jordan Mills could continue to share time at right tackle.
