There’s no decision on Tyrod Taylor yet.

And there may not be one until the last possible moment.

That was the update from Bills head coach Sean McDermott on Wednesday morning as he met the media from the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.

“We’re going to be methodical and take all the time we need to make the right decision both in the short and long term,” McDermott said.

McDermott added the decision will be made by he and GM Doug Whaley together.

“Doug and I are off to a great start. We have disagreements, but at the end of the day, we’re making decisions that are right for the Bills organization,” McDermott said. “That’s the team within the team. Doug is counting on me and I’m counting on Doug.”

McDermott did say he considers Cardale Jones an option and has gone over his practice tape along with the tape from the season finale he started against the Jets.

The Bills began the day by announcing they will not put the franchise tag on Stephon Gilmore and defensive tackle Kyle Williams will return in 2017.

“Stephon is a good player and the corner position is a critical position,” McDermott said. “We want the right people in the right place to be successful.”

McDermott said he was excited about being re-united with LeSean McCoy. The two were together in Philadelphia seven years ago.

“I know what LeSean brings to the table. It’s been fun to watch him mature over the years and really develop on and off the field,” McDermott said. “He’s really a dynamic player.'”

McDermott discussed his coaching staff which is heavy on experience. While he acknowledged experience was a big factor, he wanted energy, too.

“Experience is great, but not if you don’t have the juice,” McDermott said.

Today is McDermott’s first words since his introductory press conference. It wasn’t a Rex Ryan show, but McDermott did repeat Ryan’s “win the offseason” mantra. Sort of.

“No one has high expectations than myself.” McDermott said. “We have to win off the field first, then on the field.”
