AJ Long’s career with the Syracuse University football team is over, the school announced on Tuesday evening.
According the SU athletics program, team physician Dr. James Tucker disqualified the quarterback from contact sports because of multiple concussions he has suffered during his career with the Orange.
In 2014, the quarterback from Bethlehem, Pa. appeared in six games, including five starts.
He has not played in 2015.
“We appreciate AJ’s hard work and the contributions he’s made to our program,” Orange head coach Scott Shafer said in a press release. “I look forward to watching him continue to grow both as a student and as a young man. I wish him the best.”
