SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – SU dominates Eastern Washington defensively in its Dome debut

After opening up a 17-point lead by halftime, the only drama in the second half was whether or not SU would hold its opponent to the lowest point total of the Jim Boeheim era.  Coming into the game, the record was 34 points set by Montana in the 2013 NCAA Tournament. Eastern Washington has only 24 points with six minutes to go, but did get to 34 as SU won the game easily 66-34.

Syracuse pressured Eastern Washington into 19 turnovers in the game which led to 33 points for the Orange.  The Eagles shot just 22% from the field.

Oshae Brissett led everyone with 20 points and eight rebounds. Remarkably, he was the only player in double figures for SU. Tyus Battle and Bourama Sidibe both chipped in with eight points.

This game marked the return of Jalen Carey and Howard Washington. Carey has not played since suffering an ankle injury last month in the Orange-White scrimmage. Washington returned less than 10 months after suffering a torn ACL. Carey finished with seven points in 18 minutes of action while Washington did not score.

Next up for the Orange will be a home game against Morehead State on Saturday before heading to the Garden next week.
