SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) —  The Syracuse University men’s basketball team has agreed to begin a four-game series with Georgetown.

The series will continue for the next three seasons with games in the Carrier Dome in 2020-21 and 2022-23 and another contest at the Capital One Arena in 2021-22.

Dates will be determined at a later time.

The first part of the series starts on Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.

The long-time standing rivalry dates back to the 1929-30 season when the two programs first met. The level of competition between Syracuse and Georgetown was raised when the two schools owned membership in the Big East Conference.

Syracuse joined the Atlantic Coast Conference for the 2013-14 season while Georgetown remains in the Big East.

The Orange are coming off a 20-14 campaign that included an NCAA Tournament run.
