KANONA, N.Y. (WETM) – Ricky Brooks, 55, has been charged with second-degree murder for the death of his girlfriend, 38-year-old Roberta Parry, according to New York State Police.
Parry was found deceased Friday morning in a home that she shared with Brooks on the 7000 block of North Main Street in Kanona, near the Town of Bath.
As 18 News first reported, State Police responded to the home shortly before noon and began an investigation into a “suspicious death.” Police said that they were interviewing an individual connected to the case and that there is no threat to the community.
Brooks was arrested by New York State Police and will be arraigned on Saturday.
Neighbors described Parry as a quiet woman who lived with Brooks and their pet cats and dog.
A cause of death for Parry was not provided by State Police.
State Police say the investigation is on-going. Steuben County District Attorney Brooks Baker, who was at the scene on Friday evening, was unable to provide comment on the case.
